This Wednesday at 9pm (CET), Paris Saint-Germain take on Aston Villa at the Parc des Princes in the quarter-finals of the Champions League 2024-2025 (return on March 15). At a press conference, Youri Tielemans, the English club’s 27-year-old midfielder, spoke about the match and the Parisian opponent.
Tielemans “We’ll have to be attentive and at our best”
“We’re confident going into the PSG game. Of course, they’re a good team, as they proved against Liverpool. We’ll have to be attentive and at our best. But we’re confident. During the league phase, we played very well, culminating in victory over Bayern Munich. After that, we realized that there was still more to do. If you can beat Bayern, you have every right to be ambitious.”
It’s hard not to be confident after such a season. Unai Emery’s men have everything to gain against PSG, and even more so away from home. We’ll need to be on our toes against the Parisians, who historically don’t like to be the favourites, especially at this stage of the competition.
There will be room to score, to win and to move forward in anticipation of the second leg. They’ll also need luck and efficiency if they are not to fall into the trap that closed on them last year, both times against Borussia Dortmund.
