This Sunday, as part of Day 1 of the group phase of the 2025 Club World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain take on Atlético de Madrid at the Rose Bowl Stadium (kick-off 9pm, CET). On the eve of the match, the press tried to guess the team that will be fielded by Paris coach Luis Enrique.
Le Parisien (4-3-3) –
Kvaratskhelia – Ramos – Doué
Ruiz – Vitinha – Neves
Mendes – Pacho – Beraldo – Hakimi
Donnarumma
L’Equipe (4-3-3) –
Kvaratskhelia – Ramos – Doué
Ruiz – Vitinha – Neves
Mendes – Pacho – Beraldo – Hakimi
Donnarumma
Given the squad, every team seems possible. Luis Enrique doesn’t give the media the runaround, and knows how to surprise. A standard team has emerged from the last few big games, but there are still other fine options. We’ll have to, as Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé (forwards aged 22 and 28) are likely to be absent.
Also, there may be a certain amount of physical management involved here, given the amount of playing time and travel for the international break. We don’t have all the facts, so we’ll have to wait and see. But we have no doubt that PSG will have a competitive team, thanks to a very fine squad.
