Vitinha, Paris Saint-Germain’s 25-year-old midfielder, spoke to DAZN after the 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid (video summary PSG/Atlético Madrid) on Sunday at the Rose Bowl Stadium as part of Day 1 of the 2025 World Cup. He spoke of the fine victory, his ability to follow it up and the penalty given to Lee Kang-In (24-year-old striker/midfielder).
Vitinha “it was even more difficult”.
Are you feeling comfortable on the pitch today?
Yes, hello to everyone and good evening in France. We felt good, me, the team, even in these conditions. It’s hot and it’s really difficult to play in these conditions. It was for us, but also for Atlético, even if it was even more difficult for them, because they didn’t have the ball.
That’s what we tried to do: take control of the match, have the ball and make them run. We wanted to create chances, and I think we did everything we could. We could have scored more goals, but we’re happy. We’re happy with this type of result and with this match.
Vitinha “I like to run, I like to give solutions.
You manage the tempo, you manage the time, it’s very important to play like that. You put your teammates in the spotlight, and that’s the role of a midfielder. How do you recover when you have to run all the time?
Thanks for the praise ( laughs). I try to do everything I can to recover well, from the boot to the cold. After that, it’s my genetics too, I like to run, I like to provide passing solutions to keep playing. Sometimes I get tired too, but you just have to keep going.
Why did you give up the penalty?
We’ve talked about it before with the coach and the other shooters. If Ousmane is there, it can be Ousmane. Today, it was me. But we have an agreement, I’m not a striker, so if there’s 3 or 4 to 0 we give to a player who has a striker and needs a goal, and there was Kang-in.
