This Saturday, as part of the 34th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) take on Auxerre (10th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off 9pm, CET). The referee for the match has been chosen: Abdelatif Kherradji (39). Kherradji has a wealth of experience under his belt in Ligue 1, as this is his first season and he has 16 games to his name.
The man with the whistle will be assisted by Cédric Favre and Ludovic Reyes. Robin Chapapria will be the 4th referee. Video assistance will be provided by Bruno Coue and Ludovic Zmyslony.
Yellow cards –
With Mr. Kherradhi at the whistle, we can expect yellow cards to come out almost “quietly” during the match. Indeed, while the national average per match is 3.53 (standard deviation 0.39), Saturday’s referee has given an average of 3.63 yellows per match throughout his career in Ligue 1 (Transfermarkt figures). That’s a little higher than the average, but only slightly. As long as we don’t forget player protection, all the better.
Direct red cards –
The man on the whistle on Saturday was also slightly harsh on direct red cards. Indeed, Kherradhi’s career total is 0.18 exclusions per match, whereas the national average per match is 0.17 (standard deviation 0.07). So there’s no question of letting bad gestures go unchallenged, nor of punishing in every sense of the word.
Second yellow cards –
Abdelatif Kherradji has yet to send off a player after his first yellow card in a Ligue 1 match. The national average is 0.09 (standard deviation 0.03). With few yellows and reds, and especially few matches, this is not illogical.
Penalties –
Finally, as far as penalties are concerned, the man at the whistle on Saturday is lower than average, with 0.31 penalties whistled per match, compared with an average of 0.34 in Ligue 1 (standard deviation of 0.08).
