Désiré Doué, the 20-year-old midfielder/forward for Paris Saint-Germain, had to leave the field due to a thigh injury during Wednesday’s match against Lorient (Ligue 1 Matchday 10). Initially, he was expected to be out until around the beginning of 2026. L’Equipe provided an update on Tuesday, reporting that the French international is now heading for an earlier return.
“Number 14 should resume training on the pitch next week.”
“Internally, we believe he is capable of returning before Christmas. This will depend on how he feels after already suffering from a calf injury that sidelined him for six weeks, from September 5th to October 17th.
According to our information, number 14 should resume training on the pitch next week. He will then be able to assess his fitness and determine whether he can return to competition, a move that no one intends to rush.”
Good news, of course, if it is confirmed. Nothing is certain yet; we’ve seen the media get it wrong before regarding injuries and a return to competition. It’s worth noting that this is a complex issue, as part of it depends on each player and how they feel.
So, we’ll wait before celebrating. But there’s hope of seeing Doué back in the squad relatively soon. We also have to hope that the infirmary doesn’t fill up again, as the current trend is towards a full squad (only Achraf Hakimi is missing, currently recovering from injury and then away at the Africa Cup of Nations until mid-January).
