Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Guillaume Hoarau (2008-2013), now retired, was invited by Instant Foot on the sidelines of the King League to talk about the 2024-2025 Champions League final between PSG and Inter Milan this Saturday at Munich’s Allianz Arena. He also gave his top 3 Parisians.
Hoarau “all the indicators are green”.
“It’s for this year, I’m excited. I can’t wait, I’m going to go. I can already feel the stress building up inside me!
Can you feel it?
Yes, all the indicators are green. They’re having an incredible season and the team is really mature despite its young age. There’s every reason to say ‘it’s going to be this year’.
What’s your favourite?
I love Vitinha, I’ve got a crush on João Neves, but my number 1 is still Ousmane Dembélé for his body of work.”
Beware of overconfidence, even if it’s more permissible for the fans than the players. As far as the latter are concerned, we’re relying on their experience, their professionalism and coach Luis Enrique. He has built a real team with the resources to respond to any difficulties.
That’s almost what’s most encouraging. This PSG isn’t just strong when things are going well. Even in a match that starts badly, whatever the reason, the Parisians have shown a real capacity to react. That could prove invaluable this Saturday.
There are also, of course, great qualities in the game. This is a team armed to deal with a variety of situations (high pressure or the opposition’s low block, for example), and which pushes forward some very high-level individuals. Vitinha, João Neves and Ousmane Dembélé are excellent examples. But there are other possible preferences, as there are so many satisfactions.
And there are different profiles. Like Vitinha, who shines more in his control of the ball, while Neves always impresses with his boundless energy in movement and duels. There’s every reason to believe in victory, even if this final stage will of course be difficult. Looking forward to Saturday evening.
