Inter Milan coach Giuseppe Marotta spoke at a press conference on Monday, ahead of the 2024-2025 Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena on May 31 (broadcast on Canal+and M6). Here is a summary of what he had to say.
Marotta “It’s the fruit of our labour”.
It’s going to be a two-team match, the biggest in Europe. It’s the second time we’ve taken part in 3 years, and we’re still very proud. It’s the fruit of our labour. It’s the merit of the coach, the players and the club.
But also to the new owners who arrived a year ago. They’ve done it with a lot of intelligence, being present but not interfering in our operations. I’d like to thank all my colleagues and the club.
Reaching our 2nd final in 3 years is exceptional. We were also real contenders in the other competitions. A few centimetres can change a team’s destiny in sport.
Marotta “We’ll be facing a club of great character, of great financial possibility.”
The coach has succeeded in shaping the team to experience these moments of great emotion, with over 100 journalists present today. To achieve this, we had to eliminate big clubs like Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona. We are Inter, and this will be our 7th final.
Arrogance is useless in sport, you need ambition. It gives you goals, a sense of belonging and acceptance of the challenges you face. We’ll be up against a club with great character and great financial resources, but we’re sure we can play a big role.
The road has been full of difficulties, but we’ve managed to overcome them. The fact that we’re still representing Italian soccer in the final is a great source of satisfaction. We’re looking forward to a great evening and, of course, to celebrating with our fans.
