It was a night of celebration the likes of which Paris Saint-Germain fans have never experienced. Despite all the doubts and criticisms at the start of the season, PSG crushed the best teams in Europe to finally claim their first Champions League title by destroying Inter Milan 5-0 (video highlights PSG/Inter Milan). PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe spoke to Canal+ about this historic moment:
Presnel Kimpembe: “One Champions League with PSG is worth 5”.
What’s happening in Paris is crazy.
Of course I’m aware of what’s going on in Paris. It’s a trophy the whole club has been waiting for, the supporters, the fans. It’s a collective achievement, even outside the sporting arena. It’s an enormous achievement. We realize it, we’re happy and when we go back to Paris it’s going to be even more beautiful.
We just have to make the most of the moment because it’s something that really touches us, because I’ve been fighting for several years to bring this cup back to this club, because it deserves it. Winning a Champions League with PSG is worth 5 with any other big club.
It’s even stronger, what does it represent?
It was hard to realize during the game. Even when there was a goal, it was hard to get up from the bench because I was a bit overwhelmed. I never thought I’d cry, but now I have, because it really brings home the reality of what I feel for this club, for these players and this team, point c’est tout un collectif.
