Paris Saint-Germain hosted Lille on Saturday as part of Ligue 1 Matchday 24 (4-1 PSG/Lille video highlights). Bradley Barcola, the 22-year-old striker who scored on Saturday evening, spoke to PSG TV on the sidelines of the match about his side’s success.
Barcola “We knew it was important to really focus on this game”.
“It was a really good performance. We enjoyed attacking and defending together. We managed to score those four goals, but it’s a shame that in the second half we slowed down a bit. But all in all, it was a really good game for the team.
We knew it was important to really concentrate on that game, to be ready for the next one, and we did it in the best possible way. On a personal level, I felt good. I was happy to score. I’ve got a lot of confidence in the team and I’m very happy with that.”
Taking one game at a time is obviously the number one rule in these conditions. PSG are still present on all fronts and can’t afford to put one match aside in favour of another. Now there’s also the question of management, and against Lille we saw that the second half had lost some of its intensity.
Nevertheless, PSG head into the Champions League full of confidence and energy. Faced with a formidable opponent, they will simply have to play to their strengths, which have been abundant in recent weeks. It’s a very good test for the club from the capital, against a team that’s cut out to go all the way in this season’s competition.
