For their first match of 2025, Paris Saint-Germain took on AS Monaco in the Champions Trophy on Sunday (1-0 video summary here). Speaking to @Anthony Bibard/FEP/Icon Sport@Anthony Bibard/FEP/Icon Sport on the sidelines of the match, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke of his side’s success.
Enrique: “Starting the year like this gives us morale”.
“A very positive feeling. Winning a title is always a source of joy. Starting the year like this, in a stadium that’s almost full, with lots of people cheering for Paris, with Parisian supporters in the stadium. Starting the year like this gives us morale, confidence, we have to enjoy it and think about the future.”
Enrique “this is something very positive that we must continue to value.”
“With the idea we have and the profile of the players, we owe it to ourselves to keep growing as a team. To improve in any situation. Today was a tough match, an opponent with great quality players, a lot of attacking players.
We had some very good moments in the game, moments of domination and defensive suffering, but I think in the end the goal did justice to a team that never stops fighting, that never stops attacking, that never stops running, that never stops defending. I think that’s something very positive that we must continue to value.”
