A sold-out Parc des Princes was the setting for Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Stade de Reims on Saturday at 9pm, the 19th day of Ligue 1. The match was largely dominated by the Reds and Blues, who took the game to their opponents but were hampered by Reims’ tight, low-lying defense. In the end, Paris were held to a 1-1 draw at the final whistle (video highlights PSG/Reims). Yehvann Diouf, SDR goalkeeper, was interviewed by DAZN after the match:
Diouf: “We tried to be ambitious and we wanted to win tonight”.
You’re having a great game. How do you feel about your team’s comeback?
First we qualified against Monaco, then we had a long game against Le Havre. We really wanted to come here and show what we can do. We wanted to be effective defensively and score. We held our nerve.
Is it always a special match for someone from the Paris basin?
I’ll definitely be going to the Parc when I was a kid, and it’s good to put in a good performance. We tried to be ambitious and we wanted to win tonight.
How do you feel about the Reims goal?
As I said, we came here with ambition. We know we’re up against PSG, but we know they have their weaknesses, like any team. And we have to rely on them. When I make the save, I tell myself that I’m going to keep the ball in my hands, and when I get up I see the player all alone, and in the worst case scenario, if he doesn’t have a solution, he’ll want the ball. I put the ball in his hands and then the credit goes to the other players.
