On Friday, as part of Matchday 6 of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain took on Rennes at the Parc des Princes. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu clearly dominated, they won 3-1 (PSG/Rennes video summary). Here are our notes on the Parisians.

Goalkeeper –

Matvey Safonov (6) – A first half without any real saves. Not much to worry about, and his footwork was rather approximate. He made a fine save in the second half.

Defenders –

Achraf Hakimi (6.5) – He’s all over the place, but we need to remind him that it’s also good to make last-ditch attacking moves. That pretty much sums up his first half. He finally managed to make an impact with a fine assist for Barcola.

Marquinhos (7) – An interesting first half from him. He was very aggressive. Replaced by Milan Skriniar in the 70th minute.

Lucas Beraldo (2) – The end of the first half was better, but the start was catastrophic. He conceded the penalty late on.

Willian Pacho (7) – Still very good in his defensive role. He’s hard to move around in defense, especially when he’s defending forward.

Midfielders –

Joao Neves (8) – Makes a difference, takes the ball well and plays an interesting forward game.He was everywhere in the second half. He’s a real asset to this team.

Fabian Ruiz (6) – Very active, played his first half very high up the pitch. Lacks a little accuracy.A fairly neutral second half.Replaced by Senny Mayulu in the 70th minute.

Warren Zaïre-Emery (5) – Neutral first half. Did his job, without any flashes of brilliance.

Forwards –

Ousmane Dembélé (6) – A decisive pass, a good choice. Beyond that, we saw him make a number of poor attacking choices.More discreet in the second half.Replaced by Ibrahim Mbaye in the 82nd minute.

Lee Kang-in (7) – A good first half, with some fair choices. He was good in the second half too.
He scored after following up Barcola’s fine shot which cannoned off the post.

Bradley Barcola (8) – Scorer after a lacklustre first half, he stepped up a gear towards the end of the half. His gesture on his goal was simple and pure. After a thunderous finish, he scored a second and was heavily involved in Lee’s goal, hitting the post. Replaced by Randal Kolo Muani in the 70th minute.

Entraîneur –

Luis Enrique (6) – People say he doesn’t want fast transitions. Yet there were some in the first half.He didn’t seem to mind. We’ll wait for the week’s new polemics.

As for the rest, he did what he could with his limited squad. The team is well-balanced, with Lee playing in place of Kolo Muani. He rotated the team and that made it difficult.
