Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract until 2026 (following the end of his contract at AC Milan), is at the heart of the rumors. His contract extension is not forthcoming, and there is talk of a departure, along with Lucas Chevalier (23, Lille and French national team). La Repubblica confirmed this Monday that the Italian is expected to leave PSG and announced a long list of interested clubs.
“Repubblica: Gigio Donnarumma is on the verge of leaving PSG. His contract extension is stalled, he’s demanding a salary of 12 million, and Chevalier’s arrival (40 million) in Paris is getting closer.
Galatasaray wants to sign him, as do Saudi clubs. United and City are also pushing, and Chelsea is considering it. A return to Italy? Difficult given the reported figures, or perhaps in a year at the end of his contract.”
This has been the trend of the last few hours, and it’s credible. The agreement for an extension hasn’t materialized, so there’s reason to think of a blockage. And therefore, a departure. If this is confirmed, there will undoubtedly be many clubs tempted by the opportunity to recruit one of the world’s best players.
Be careful, though, these are only rumors, and we’ve already seen cases quickly shift from media reports to reality. Not to mention that some media outlets are pointing out that an extension remains possible. So let’s wait for certainties.
