Fabian Ruiz, the 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder who arrived from Napoli in the summer of 2022, has successfully established himself as a key player while also shining for Spain. This success has sparked transfer rumors, particularly given that his PSG contract runs until 2027. According to PSG Inside Actus, a departure is once again being considered, even though a contract extension had seemed all but certain.
“The Spanish midfielder is now weighing his options”
While it initially appeared he would stay—and even sign a contract extension that seemed virtually agreed upon—Fabian Ruiz’s situation has recently shifted. Discussions are ongoing, but the Spanish midfielder is now asking himself many questions about the next steps in his career.
For Paris Saint-Germain, the priority is clear: to keep him. However, PSG will not stand in the player’s way if he expresses a desire to leave. In recognition of his loyal service, the club would respect his decision.
There is no shortage of interest.
A return to Spain cannot be ruled out, while a new stint in Italy also remains a possibility. Just like last summer, several Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly ready to offer him a highly lucrative contract.
However, there is nothing concrete yet, so nothing is certain. It is worth noting that while Ruiz has previously stated he would like to return to Real Betis at some point in his career, he also recently affirmed that he is happy at PSG. A departure is not currently on the agenda; nevertheless, a contract extension is not guaranteed until it is officially signed.
If the Spaniard were indeed to move on—with PSG potentially seeking a sale to make room for a major new signing (Ayyoub Bouaddi has been mentioned several times, though other targets are possible)—there would undoubtedly be clubs ready to negotiate for the Spanish international. This applies to Saudi Arabia, of course, but also to top European clubs. For now, however, we simply have to wait for certainty.
