Arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in the 2023 summer transfer window from Inter Milan, 30-year-old defender Milan Skriniar failed to establish himself at the club. His contract expires in June 2028, and he has been loaned to Fenerbahçe for the second half of the 2024-2025 season. He has made a strong comeback and is now expected to make a permanent move to the Turkish club this summer. The same goes for Marco Asensio (29-year-old attacking midfielder). On Friday, journalist Barış Kalkan reported that the players had announced their departure to their Parisian teammates.
“Marco Asensio and Milan Skriniar will say goodbye to their teammates today and finish their preparations to come to Istanbul. President Ali Koç wants to announce these transfers at the board meeting!”
If this is confirmed, it is an important step that leaves no doubt that a transfer is close to being finalized. But beware, this is only a rumor, and we have already seen the media get carried away a little too soon.
So we remain cautious, even if the trend is clearly towards a transfer of Skriniar and Asensio to Fenerbahçe. It would be a good way out for them and PSG, given their difficulties.
As a reminder, the price for each player is said to be just over €10 million, which wouldn’t be too bad for players who arrived on free transfers.
