Achraf Hakimi and Désiré Doué are the two latest “big” players injured at Paris Saint-Germain, having picked up setbacks in early November and late October, respectively. But, little by little, their return to the pitch is drawing closer. This Wednesday, L’Equipe provided details on the possible dates for the next match for the 27-year-old right-back and the 20-year-old midfielder/forward.
Hakimi, the AFCON in sight.
“Hakimi wore his boot for twenty days before taking it off upon his return to Paris on November 25th. He spent a few days in the capital without lingering. The Moroccan is continuing his rehabilitation in Poissy. The former Inter Milan wing-back remains confident he will be ready for the first AFCON match against Comoros. At PSG, they are taking a more cautious approach, believing that, in any case, he will not be at 100% for the start of the tournament.”
Will Doué be available for the match against Metz?
Internally, as well as within his professional circle, sources agree that the 2025 Golden Boy is progressing well. And quickly. With high-intensity runs. The grade 3 of his injury will soon be a thing of the past.
His presence in Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup, on December 17 in Doha, is not out of the question. The most optimistic even believe that his inclusion in the Metz squad (on the 13th) is not entirely far-fetched. But in Paris, they are rejecting any suggestion of haste.
Of course, there is an element of caution. It is always difficult to give an exact return date after several weeks of treatment. Every player is different, both in terms of the time it takes to be fully fit in training and to have the right feel for the match.
However, we suspect that the players are working as hard as they can, and all media outlets agree that the recovery is progressing well. For Hakimi, the focus is on the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco, and we know we won’t see him back in Paris before January. But we can only wish him a speedy return, though we’re a little concerned about rushing things.
As for Doué, Paris shouldn’t take any risks just before the winter break (from Monday, December 22nd to Sunday, January 4th). If he plays before then, it means he’s fully fit. Which seems plausible. We’ll wait for confirmation.
