Vitinha, the 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, stopped to speak at the press conference after the penalty shootout victory (1-1 in regulation time, 4-3 on penalties) against Arsenal this Saturday at the Puskas Arena in Budapest in the 2025-2026 Champions League final.

Is overcoming suffering the best summary of the evening and the season?

It was an incredible season, with its ups and downs. We knew from the start, with the limited rest, that there would be issues, physical problems. We were prepared for that, but it’s always difficult to cope with it. We did it very, very well. It’s not easy to overcome. We played many matches without key players, yet we still managed to get results, to always be there.

We reached the most important match with everyone, it’s incredible. Finishing like this is the ultimate dream. Winning back-to-back titles is a source of pride, a pleasure. For everyone. We deserved it and we’re all happy.

Vitinha: “We have an incredible group.”

A best player award for the final that rewards your season?

I’ll leave that to you, I prefer to talk about the team. And the substitutes. They don’t always get many minutes, what they do is incredible. Sometimes there are very few minutes, not everyone can play. The players always have a smile on their face, they’re always ready to give everything for the team. That makes the difference.

They came on well today, they took the penalties well. They’re incredible. We have an incredible group. Sometimes we play well and we don’t win. But now, there’s the icing on the cake, we win. It’s a second Champions League title and it’s a real pleasure to say it.

Vitinha: “I hope he’ll keep pushing to win even more.”

How did the coach put this second Champions League title in your head?

It’s the same if we ask now about the third, it’s a long way off. It’s an incredible journey. There are stages. Right now, we have to enjoy it, congratulate everyone. The staff, the management, the players, everyone deserves it. This desire to win more, to never If we stop, I think Luis Enrique is to blame. I hope he’ll keep pushing to win even more. But right now, we don’t want to talk about the future. We want to enjoy the present.

Vitinha: “We’re having a lot of fun in this group, with a lot of humility.”

Big clubs are interested in you, especially in England and Spain. Neves too, and others. Is this the biggest club in Paris today?

It’s normal that big clubs want PSG players; they’ve been at the top for two years. It’s not generally good to say you’re the best, maybe that won’t change, but today we can say that we’re the best in Europe. So it’s normal that there’s interest. We’re having a lot of fun in this group, with a lot of humility. Right now, we just want to celebrate.
