This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) faces Brest (12th) at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 33 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 9 pm, broadcast on Ligue 1+). This Saturday morning, RMC Sport reported that Matvey Safonov (27-year-old goalkeeper) has been suffering from pain in recent days.
Matvey Safonov’s fitness needs to be monitored. The Russian goalkeeper hadn’t trained much before being selected for the Munich match, due to persistent calf pain since the first leg.
Nothing is certain yet, and it’s not a clear-cut injury, but it appears that Safonov could be rested for the time being. It would be quite logical to be cautious with the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30th in mind. With Lucas Chevalier (24 years old) currently injured, Renato Marin (19 years old) could get some playing time after starting last weekend against Lorient.
