Paris Saint-Germain defeated Flamengo on penalties (1-1, then 3-1 on penalties) this Wednesday in Doha in the final of the 2025 Intercontinental Cup. After the match, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi answered a few questions in the mixed zone.
Al-Khelaïfi: “It’s magnificent, 6 titles!”
What are your feelings?
We started the year with a trophy here and we finished the year with another trophy here. It’s magnificent, 6 titles! For the history of the club, for France, for our fans. It’s really something we hadn’t even considered.
We have a truly great team, a fantastic coach, the sporting advisor too, all the staff, the medical team, everyone is important. We’ve almost finished the year, but with another title. We’re really proud, especially in Qatar. It’s something very special.
What did you say to Safonov?
It’s magnificent. The goalkeeper showed he’s at a very high level. Those four saves were magnificent!
Al-Khelaïfi: “We have to work, always work.”
How do you follow up such a historic season?
We’re taking it one game at a time, one week at a time. That’s what the coach is doing with the players; we have to work, always work. The expectations are high, but we’re always positive. We haven’t played with our full squad yet. We have a magnificent team.
Should you be making signings during the transfer window?
I’ll leave that for you to think about and talk about (smiles).
