This Friday, Paris Saint-Germain will be at the Parc des Princes to face Lille (kick-off at 9 pm, CET) as part of Matchday 18 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. The match is marked by the Professional Football League’s (LFP) sanction against the Collectif Ultras Paris, who reacted angrily. The Lille club also opposed the LFP’s decision to reduce the number of Lille supporters allowed to attend (which led to a boycott by its Ultras).
“LOSC regrets what it considers excessive security measures”
“Earlier this week, the Club was informed by the police prefecture that the number of fans allowed to travel would be limited to 500, a threshold far below the actual capacity of the Parc des Princes away section and the regulations set forth by the LFP (French Professional Football League). Furthermore, the fans in question were required to be escorted by law enforcement to the stadium, and only as part of organized travel using public transportation.
LOSC regrets what it considers excessive security measures and laments that its players will not be able to benefit from the support of their loyal fans for this match. The Club also points out that a thousand Parisian fans were able to travel in the opposite direction for the match against Paris Saint-Germain in early October, without compromising public safety or causing any significant incidents.”
Clubs and fans do not understand the LFP’s decisions and regret their impact on matches. That’s also the point; punishment is meant to be difficult, and you have to hit hard to have an impact. However, there’s a feeling that the League’s sanctions lack follow-through, reflection, and dialogue to improve the situation.
There are clearly tensions surrounding deadlocks and disagreements; simply slamming the door on the other side will hardly bring about improvements. Let’s hope for progress soon.
