This Saturday, as part of Matchday 32 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Lorient (9th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 5 pm, CET). The referee for the match has been chosen: Bastien Dechepy (40 years old). He has considerable experience in Ligue 1, having officiated 95 matches.

He will be assisted by Julien Haulbert and Gwenaël Pasqualotti. The fourth official will be Faouzi Benchabane. Video assistance will be provided by Julien Schmitt and Hakim Ben El Hadj.

Yellow Cards –

With Mr. Dechepy as referee, we can expect yellow cards to be shown relatively quickly during the match. Indeed, while the national average per match is 3.53 (standard deviation of 0.39), Saturday’s referee has averaged 3.77 yellow cards per match throughout his Ligue 1 career (Transfermarkt figures). The key is to manage the game effectively and protect the players.

Direct Red Cards –

The referee on Saturday was less strict with direct red cards. Dechepy has averaged 0.17 dismissals per match in his career, while the national average is 0.17 (standard deviation of 0.07). Therefore, there is no question of letting bad behavior go unpunished, nor of handing out cards indiscriminately.

Second Yellow Cards –

Bastien Dechepy doesn’t usually send off a player after their first yellow card in a Ligue 1 match. The national average is 0.09 (standard deviation of 0.03), while his is 0.08. Given the relatively high number of yellow cards initially, it’s reasonable to assume that a second yellow card is less likely.

Penalties –

Finally, regarding penalties, the referee on Saturday was significantly above average, awarding 0.41 per match, compared to the Ligue 1 average of 0.34 (standard deviation of 0.08).
