On Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-2 against Olympique Lyonnais in Matchday 30 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season at the Parc des Princes. Here are the highs and lows of this defeat.
Highs –
❤️ Fabian Ruiz returns.
In an otherwise somewhat gloomy evening for Paris, there was at least one piece of excellent news. Fabian Ruiz, the 30-year-old midfielder who injured his knee on January 20th, has returned to action. This should inject some energy and creativity into the Parisian midfield. He even provided the assist for Kvaratskhelia’s goal.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s introduction.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the 25-year-old striker, wasn’t injured, but his introduction to the pitch was particularly striking in its dynamism and creativity. The Georgian player has once again confirmed that he’s ready for a strong end to the season. His goal is a perfect example.
Flops –
😡Frustrating…and stressful defeat?
PSG could have done better, but they still dominated (16 shots to 5, 66% possession, 12 corners to 5…). The result is very frustrating and highlights areas for improvement, including being more clinical against a defensive block. It also allows Lens to close the gap to just one point before PSG’s rescheduled match against Nantes on Wednesday. They’ll need to win.
Vitinha injured.
The 26-year-old midfielder clearly landed awkwardly after the aerial duel against Endrick on Lyon’s second goal and couldn’t recover from the pain. He left the field with an injury; we’ll have to wait to find out the severity. But it’s definitely a low point from this evening.
A disappointing reunion for Bradley Barcola.
In good form recently, Bradley Barcola faced his former club on Sunday evening. The 23-year-old striker was therefore highly anticipated. But he struggled, losing possession frequently, particularly due to intercepted passes.
