Paris Saint-Germain (9th) coach Paulo César held a press conference to discuss the match against OH Leuven (11th)—scheduled for Thursday at 9 p.m. CET (broadcast on Disney+)—as part of Matchday 2 of the 2026–2027 Women’s Champions League.
Paulo César: “I sense the players are confident”
“It was very important to bring back that point from the draw in Madrid. That result—and the quality of our performance—has given us a lot more confidence. I can sense the players’ confidence; we hope to replicate the level of play we showed against Real Madrid. What we need to avoid is conceding a goal in the opening minutes. Then, we want to put on a performance that gets the crowd behind us and go out to secure those three points in front of our supporters.
Compared to last season, they have a new coach and a few new players. However, their style of play remains quite similar to last year’s; they are a team that is very solid defensively and plays with a lot of physicality. We’ve prepared well; last year, they defended deep against us. We’ll try to find solutions to break down that defensive block so we can be productive and score goals.” — Comments via the official PSG website.
Paris earned a valuable point against Real Madrid—a tough away fixture made even harder by conceding an early goal. Now, they need to build on that positive reaction by securing a win. Doing so will require another great performance, ideally with even greater clinical efficiency.
They will be facing a different kind of opponent—likely more defensive and perhaps less individually gifted. However, they must obviously respect this opponent. They didn’t reach this league phase by accident and will fight hard to stay in the competition. The team needs to approach this match with the same level of determination and harness the fans’ support to pick up precious points.
