This Tuesday at 9 p.m. (CET), Paris Saint-Germain (5th) will face Tottenham (10th) at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 5 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. According to L’Equipe, the English club will have 2,000 away fans in the stands.
The National Division for the Fight Against Hooliganism (DNLH) has rated the match only 2 out of 5. According to their scale, this means there could be “a degraded atmosphere likely to generate deviant behavior from supporters.”
In the capital, 2,000 English fans are expected, the vast majority of whom are due to arrive this Wednesday, the day of the match. Tottenham has a large following within the Jewish community, and provocations are possible. The police haven’t ruled out the possibility of pro-Palestinian flags being displayed by the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) in the Auteuil stand. The English club has instructed its supporters not to display Israeli flags.
It’s understandable that the English fans are coming in large numbers; they are often passionate, and the journey is fairly straightforward. We hope for a great atmosphere at the Parc des Princes, with the Parisians in top form, of course. No incidents, please. Passion is a wonderful thing, banter can be fun, but certain boundaries must be respected.
Unfortunately, the geopolitical situation could add further difficulties. But violence is not the solution; dialogue is needed, and it clearly goes beyond the scope of a football match. Let’s hope there won’t be any negative mixing.
