Paris Saint-Germain and Troyes faced off this Saturday at the Parc des Princes for the 10th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. The encounter ended in a 1-0 victory for the Parisians (PSG vs. Troyes video highlights). Following the match, Troyes head coach Stéphane Dumont spoke to Ligue1+.
Dumont: “We might have been able to scrape something out of it.”
Do you feel you’re leaving with any regrets?
You always hope for that. You hope to be able to challenge a team like this, and I think that’s what we did. We needed to push ourselves to meet that challenge, and I think that’s a very positive takeaway. That said, we are competitors, and looking at the second half, we might have been able to scrape something out of it.
Is it a shame about that set-piece?
Yes. If you look back a little earlier in the sequence, we had a real opportunity where we could have done better. Perhaps we could have taken a yellow card to get back into a better defensive shape at that point in the match. We lacked composure during that set-piece—partly because we’d spent the previous 40 minutes doing a lot of chasing after the ball. That’s also why big teams succeed, beyond just their immense quality. We could just as easily have conceded from open play, but we also could have scored from open play ourselves.
Dumont: “I think we could have applied more pressure than we actually did.”
It felt like PSG were controlling the tempo—if you had scored, do you think they would have shifted gears?
Yes, I think so. Even if we had managed to score first, I suspect they would have stepped up a gear. Despite them controlling the tempo, we were able to go toe-to-toe with them. But if we had equalized at some point, I think we would have applied more pressure than we actually did.
