Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-0 victory over Troyes this Saturday at the Parc des Princes, as part of the 10th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. Following the match, PSG manager Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “For us, it’s important to keep winning.”
Why did you think this would be the most difficult match of the week?
“Because it’s been a recurring theme over the last three years. Whenever we play this type of match, it’s always difficult and complicated. Today, they defended particularly well, and in the final part of the game, they even had opportunities to attack us.
It was complicated—very complicated. But in the end, I think we created some great chances to win by a wider margin. Still, that’s all there is to it. I’m very happy. Since we arrived, this is the first time we’ve won all eight matches between two international breaks. And for us, it’s important to keep winning.”
How do you feel about this record of 11 consecutive victories?
“It’s so difficult and rare to find yourself in a situation like this; if you start thinking you’re unbeatable or invincible, you’ll almost certainly lose the next match. Football is always very hard to control. That’s why we’re very happy—though more so for the eight-match run between the international breaks than for the eleven consecutive wins themselves.
Now is the time to rest and to analyze everything we’ve done—which, I believe, we’ve done very well. Then, once the players return from their national team duties, we’ll look to do it all over again.” “
Luis Enrique: “You’re starting to get worried about Ferran”
“I told you back at the start of the competition that everyone was worried about Mika Godts, but with Ferran, you didn’t see any problem. Now, it’s the other way around—you’re starting to get worried about Ferran. Well, there’s no need to be worried about any Paris Saint-Germain player. It’s perfectly normal; forwards are the ones who miss goals, and they’re also the ones who score them—that’s just how it goes.
For me, the one essential requirement is that our forwards keep creating clear-cut chances, and that’s exactly what we’re looking for. It’s typical—whenever we play this kind of match, we end up with 7 or 8 big chances, just like today. Their goalkeeper was in great form, as was their whole team, which made things complicated—but that’s nothing out of the ordinary.”
How do you assess Lucas Beraldo’s development at the club?
“He’s doing well. There have been different phases throughout the season, but Lucas Beraldo was signed as a central defender. Since then, we’ve seen his individual technical quality and his ability to play further up the pitch. He’s a player with real personality—even though he’s very young—and he’s an important player for us.
He may be very young, but he already has a great deal of experience. He’s always capable, both with and without the ball, and I’m particularly pleased because he contributes to the team every single day—in every training session and every match. Regardless of how many minutes he plays, he’s always ready; he’s a very important lad for us as a team.”
Luis Enrique: “We’re happy to be together”
What kind of relationship do you have with the PSG supporters?
“The relationship is almost perfect. I’ve spoken many times about the feelings I have toward the Paris Saint-Germain supporters. My experience here in Paris—this is my third season—has been incredible. The fans are always there, especially when matches get difficult or when we run into problems; they truly deserve to be commended.
This is a great moment to congratulate all the supporters in the Virage Auteuil, and I hope they get to celebrate many more anniversaries. We’re happy to be together, and we aim to keep bringing joy and winning trophies—which is what matters most for the club and for the fans.”
