Ahead of tomorrow’s Matchday 3 of the 2025 Club World Cup group stage at Lumen Field against the Seattle Sounders (kick-off 9pm CET, broadcast on DAZN), 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia spoke to the media. The Georgian spoke about this important encounter and his year in Paris.
Kvaratskhelia “We’re very focused, we know it’s going to be a tough match.”
What’s your mentality for this decisive match?
I think we have to concentrate on the match, on the moment we have.
Are you worried about elimination?
We’re not thinking about that, we’re just thinking about getting out there and winning the game.
What kind of opponent are you expecting?
We’ve seen some of their games, and we know they can play very well. We’re very focused, and we know it’s going to be a tough game. We have to play our game.
Everyone will be on the pitch to win. There isn’t a team that’s come to lose. It’s going to be a tough game. They’ll come to beat us. But we’re the Champions League winners, so we have a responsibility to show our game.
Have any of the favourites lost matches?
Anyone can win. There are teams who are favourites but who lose, that’s normal. It’s a very difficult competition. No team can play with the certainty of not losing.
Kvaratskhelia “I don’t realize it yet.”
A special year for you?
It went so fast! I’m just trying to realize yet, because it went so fast. I’m very happy to be here, with this incredible club, extraordinary players, a great coach. I’m really happy to be part of this team. I still don’t realize what we’ve achieved (smile).
