Ousmane Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain’s 27-year-old striker, spoke to Canal+ after the team’s 1-4 victory over Stuttgart (video highlights Stuttgart/PSG) on Wednesday at the Mercedens-Benz Arena as part of matchday 8 of the Champions League 2024-2025 league phase. He spoke of success and qualification, collective strength and his many goals this season (a hat-trick tonight).
Dembélé “The players run and fight for the jersey and that’s the most important thing.”
What emotions and feelings prevail?
First of all, pride. I think we played a full match from start to finish, even if there was that Stuttgart goal. For some time now, we’ve been doing really well, playing well, controlling possession and winning our games. We’re in a very good frame of mind and we’re delighted to have qualified for the play-offs.
In what way has PSG become unplayable?
It’s all down to hard work. There are players who want to win things with Paris Saint-Germain. The players run and fight for the shirt, and that’s the most important thing.
Dembélé: “I’m a lot closer to the goal.
What’s the value of this hat-trick?
I’m happy, I’m a lot closer to the goal playing as a number 9 and when I eliminate players I’m in front of goal. I’m also very well served by my partners and I’m very happy.
Is it good news to meet a French club in the play-offs?
Whatever happens, the play-offs are a big battle, so we’re going to have to prepare well in the league. We’ll just have to see.
