Kylian Mbappé, France’s 25-year-old striker, is now at Real Madrid following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain. However, not everything has yet been settled between the player and the club where he spent 7 years. The French international is in financial dispute with Paris over unpaid wages and bonuses, despite PSG’s belief that an agreement had been reached. This Friday, AFP reports that the French Football Federation has responded to the club’s appeal to pay the 55 million euros owed.
“The request to the FFF Executive Committee was submitted one day too late”
“The French Football Federation (FFF) has rejected Paris-SG’s request to reconsider the injunction issued by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to pay 55 million euros in unpaid wages and bonuses to its former player Kylian Mbappé, AFP learned from a source close to the case on Friday.
The request to the FFF’s Executive Committee was submitted one day too late by PSG, according to the same source, whereas the club had ten days to make it from the time the LFP’s joint appeals commission ruled in the player’s favor.”
The verdict is undoubtedly in Mbappé’s favor, and it would be very surprising if AFP were wrong about this. The same goes for the reason for the refusal, even if it’s hard to believe that the Parisian club made such a huge mistake.
In any case, the Parisian club seems to be off to a very bad start in this matter. For the moment, the authorities are on the player’s side, and that can easily be defended, even if it’s unpleasant.
Above all, we’d like to see the matter settled soon, even if it’s likely to take some time. It’s time for PSG to focus solely on their season. For Mbappé too, it would undoubtedly be good.
