Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adjustments sometimes). We’ll revisit the interesting things before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this isn’t an exhaustive overview. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match (2nd) this Saturday against Brest (12th) at the Stade Francis Le-Blé on Matchday 9 of Ligue 1 2025-2026 (kick-off 5 p.m., CET).
5 – Another barrage of goals?
Since the October break, PSG has only played two matches but has already scored 15 goals in its matches (3-3 against Strasbourg and 2-7 against Bayer Leverkusen). We’re getting used to such a pace, even if we wish the Parisian defense was more solid. In any case, we hope to have more entertainment to keep us occupied this Saturday afternoon. Not to mention that Brest also lost 3-3 in Ligue 1 last weekend against Lorient.
4 – Marquinhos is back.
He’s not the player who was most anticipated, as the attack was decimated, but seeing the Parisian captain back is truly good news. The 31-year-old defender strengthens the squad and it’s a pleasure to see him helping lead the defense and his teammates. Not to mention that it gives others a break.
3 – Doué ready to keep it going?
Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward) has returned for the last two games and has been decisive each time. Notably with a very nice double against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday. The media are reporting that he will start on the bench, but that is far from certain. In any case, we expect to see him play. And, most likely, shine again. This player is in a class of his own, and it’s a joy to see him back on the pitch.
2 – Dembélé in the starting lineup?
The 28-year-old striker was able to play around 30 minutes against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday; it’s possible he’ll start this time. Even if it’s not a given. He can, at least, step up his game and possibly be a little more incisive in his ball handling. This will help PSG become even more dangerous, not to mention their famous pressing.
1 – Regain the lead in Ligue 1.
Things are going well in the Champions League, but less so in Ligue 1. After two consecutive draws, PSG lost the lead over the weekend to Olympique de Marseille. There’s no need to worry; there are plenty of games left. But Paris can’t hang around either. They can’t accept this situation.
So they must go for the win and overtake OM while awaiting their match tonight at Lens. A difficult trip to the fourth-placed team could lead to a loss of points.
