Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Wednesday against Aston Villa at the Parc des Princes in the quarter-finals of the Champions League 2024-2025 (kick-off 9pm, CET).
5 – Unai Emery returns to the Parc.
Unai Emery, PSG coach from 2016 to 2018, has been on the Aston Villa bench since October 2022 and will return to the Parc des Princes for the first time since leaving the Parisian club. A special moment, with a welcome from the fans that will be one to watch. The Spaniard has often had good things to say about his Parisian adventure, but he will logically want to strike a big blow.
4 – Marco Asensio, already a reunion.
Marco Asensio didn’t have to wait so long for his reunion with Paris. The striker arrived from Real Madrid in 2023 and spent the winter on loan at Aston Villa. He will no doubt be keen to show that he could have helped, particularly in this competition. As well as the logical desire to help his team. With Parisian habits against his former players, he should score.
3 – Suspense surrounding the line-up.
Discussions have been intense over the last few hours: who should start this match? There are several options on the PSG side and a great deal of suspense, particularly in attack and in midfield. Let’s wait for the official announcement and then the match to see whether coach Luis Enrique’s choices will pay off.
2 – A superb evening to enjoy.
It’s the Champions League, it’s at the Parc des Princes, with a team full of promise, energy and collective spirit… All the ingredients for a great evening of soccer, in a superb atmosphere. It would be a real shame to miss such an event.
1 – Move towards the semi-final.
Qualification cannot be achieved in the first leg, but there is an opportunity to take a first step before the return leg next Tuesday. So we’re hoping for a great match from PSG to keep our hopes of a historic run alive. Every stage counts, and is something to be experienced.
