Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations sometimes). We’ll revisit the interesting points before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this is not an exhaustive overview. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Wednesday against Atalanta at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 1 of the 2025-2026 Champions League (kick-off 9 p.m., CET).
5 – A reunion with a club in a new era.
PSG and Atalanta had an intense match in the 2020 Champions League quarter-finals during the famous Final 8, with late goals from Marquinhos and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. This is the first time they’ve met since then, and things have changed a lot.
Paris is pursuing a very different project and arrives as Champions League winners. Atalanta is coming off a nine-year spell with Gian Piero Gasperini, and coach Ivan Juric must assert himself, even if his playing philosophy is quite similar. This is an opportunity to take stock.
4 – Gonçalo Ramos must be more incisive.
The 24-year-old striker is highly anticipated during the injuries of Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé. He must establish himself as a real option at the highest level. He has potential; we’ve seen it at times, especially when he was a substitute. Now he must take advantage of the pace to step up. Even if it’s not so easy. That’s the law of the highest level.
3 – Warren Zaïre-Emery, a return to form?
The 19-year-old midfielder had a more complicated time in 2025 and was not called up to the French national team for the September break. He took advantage of this to arrive fit for PSG/Lens on Sunday. As his talent hasn’t faded during his latest injury, we naturally believe he’ll return to an excellent level. This may be the beginning; we hope to see him continue.
2 – Bradley Barcola can confirm his rise to prominence.
The 23-year-old striker has been in form for several months and seems to be entering this season perfectly. This Champions League opener, without Doué or Dembélé, is an opportunity to confirm his form and further establish himself at the highest level. We’re confident; Barcola seems to have reached a new level.
1 – A new campaign, great emotions expected.
PSG is the winner of the 2024-2025 Champions League; that will never change, and we must take full advantage of it. However, it’s a new edition that’s starting, and it’s important to play it to the fullest. It’s time to get started, always hoping to experience great moments. Every European campaign is to be savored to the fullest.
