Here’s our series. The 5 good reasons to watch a match (with some adjustments here and there). We’ll revisit the compelling aspects before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this isn’t meant to be an exhaustive overview. We continue here with the match between Paris Saint-Germain (1st) and Brest (12th) this Sunday at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 33 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 9 pm, CET).

5 – Is this the end of Eric Roy’s time at Brest?

After a very successful period, including a Champions League Round of 16 playoff against PSG in the 2024-2025 season, Brest has faced significantly more difficulties this season. This is largely due to a transfer window focused more on sales than on improving the team’s performance. After a difficult year, coach Eric Roy is showing his anger, and the idea of leaving seems to be on the table. It could be the end of a great chapter in French football.

4 – Time for the backups?

After the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich, which resulted in qualification (1-1, 5-6 on aggregate), PSG must refocus on Ligue 1. There has been time, not to mention last weekend’s squad rotation, which allows for the possibility of some starters playing regularly. However, a little rotation is certainly feasible. PSG still needs to demonstrate the strength of its team.

3 – Ramos and Zabarnyi need to prove themselves.

Among the backups who could get playing time, we can consider Gonçalo Ramos (24-year-old striker) and Ilya Zabarnyi (23-year-old defender), who were suspended against Lorient last Saturday (2-2). They should play, at least as substitutes; they must make the most of this opportunity. The Portuguese player needs to be decisive, and the Ukrainian must be solid.

2 – Last match at the Parc des Princes this season.

It’s (already?) the end of the season; PSG will no longer play at the Parc des Princes after this match in the 2025-2026 season. Even though they will play in Paris, right next door, on the final matchday. They must fully enjoy the atmosphere before a break until August.

1 – The title at “99% certain”.

Lens won 1-0 against Nantes on Friday night, closing the gap to 3 points behind PSG and securing their place in the Champions League. PSG cannot officially clinch the title tonight, as Lens still have two matches to play: against Paris on Wednesday (a rescheduled match from Matchday 30) and against Lyon next Sunday.

However, PSG, who will face Paris FC in Matchday 34, are “99% certain” to be champions, as stated by PSG coach Luis Enrique. A victory would restore their 6-point lead, with a goal difference of at least 15 points.
