Here’s our series. The 5 good reasons to watch a match (with some adjustments here and there). We’ll revisit the compelling aspects before each match with a mix of seriousness and humor. Please note, this isn’t meant to be an exhaustive overview. We continue here with the match between Paris Saint-Germain (1st) and Lorient (9th) this Saturday at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 32 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 5 pm, CET).

5 A promising newcomer.

FC Lorient was promoted at the end of the 2024-2025 season as Ligue 2 champions and has maintained its form this season. They’ve had to adapt their style of play somewhat, with less possession, but there’s still a clear desire to create chances and not just defend on the counter-attack. With their place in Ligue 1 largely secured, Lorient can now aim for 8th place. They will face a quality opponent and will be composed in Paris.

4 – The wait for the second leg of the semi-final.

There’s no pretending otherwise; the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich is on everyone’s mind. Everyone wants to reach the second leg on Wednesday, May 6th, to see this two-legged tie through. This match, which shouldn’t be underestimated, is an excellent way to spend Saturday afternoon (more so than Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday).

3 – Mayulu to confirm his form?

Senny Mayulu, the 19-year-old midfielder, seems to be back in form lately. In a match where rotation is expected, he will likely start in midfield or attack. An opportunity to confirm his potential and secure a place in the team for the future.

2 – The delicate task.

As mentioned, PSG is in the middle of the Champions League semi-final. Some players could therefore be rested. But there’s also the need to win, as well as two suspensions among the backups: Ilya Zabarnyi (23-year-old defender) and Gonçalo Ramos (24-year-old striker). This limits the options. We’ll be curious to see the formula chosen by coach Luis Enrique throughout the match.

1 – Put pressure on Lens.

Obviously, the title race can’t be ignored, even with the European competition looming in the background. Paris has a 6-point lead over second-place Lens, who face Nice tonight at 9:05 PM away. The objective will be to further distance themselves from Lens in this close battle.
