Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 on a contract running until 2026 (following the end of his tenure at AC Milan), has been at the heart of rumours in recent weeks. There are doubts about an extension, despite the desire expressed by the Italian and his agent Enzo Raiola. La Repubblica claims that the goalkeeper is heading for a departure, with a price set at 40 million euros.
“Repubblica: The divorce is becoming clearer between Gigio #Donnarumma and #PSG. Manchester City could try the move, hard to imagine a return to Serie A (Juve, Inter, Milan, Napoli…). His price has been set at 40 million euros.”
We can only be very cautious, since Donnarumma and his agent have repeated several times that he is happy at PSG and that the priority is to extend his contract. This is not a foregone conclusion, however, as negotiations may yet stall. However, it seems difficult for any newspaper to claim that a departure is in the offing.
That’s far from being the case today, and one wonders whether the paper isn’t taking advantage of the vagueness to advance a rumour. As is often the case, we’ll have to wait and see.
