Hugo Ekitike, 23-year-old striker for Eintracht Frankfurt and the French U-21 team, is on the move. According to the latest reports, he is finally heading for Liverpool after numerous discussions and rumours. This could be very good news for Paris Saint-Germain. After his switch from 2022 to 2024, he was sold with a handsome percentage to be received on a capital gain on resale.
The transfer has not yet been finalized, and the price has not yet been fixed, but media reports suggest a figure of around 90 million euros. A very handsome sum for a striker who was unable to make his mark in Paris, but who was sold for 16.5 million euros plus 20% on the capital gain on resale. This could bring in around 15 million euros for PSG. A not inconsiderable sum, to make up for a rather “botched” move at the time.
This may not entirely remove some of the regrets surrounding this young talent, who was not put in the best conditions during his time in the capital. But Ekitike has yet to confirm his place in the Premier League, a more difficult league for strikers than the Bundesliga. Of course, that’s what we’re hoping for.
