Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old forward for RB Leipzig (under contract until 2030) and the Ivory Coast national team, has recently been linked closely to Paris Saint-Germain. Journalist Abdellah Boulma reported on X this Wednesday that negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, with a potential player-plus-cash deal being discussed.
“PSG is continuing talks with Leipzig regarding Yan Diomandé. The player has already agreed to the move to the Parisian club. Several deal structures are on the table, including an arrangement that involves a player in addition to a transfer fee. Negotiations remain complex, but Paris stays optimistic.”
This report seems quite credible, especially given that the German club had previously stated its intention to keep Diomande for another season before entertaining a transfer. It is easy to see why discussions are complicated at best. However, a breakthrough is not impossible—particularly if PSG approaches the €100 million figure mentioned in the media (though that price point remains uncertain).
In any case, a substantial offer might persuade Leipzig to change its stance. A swap deal could also help open the door, depending on which player is offered (perhaps Ibrahim Mbaye for a player in the same position, or another asset to address a different need?).
We will have to wait and see if any progress is made, but for now, it appears that the media—as is often the case—jumped the gun by suggesting a move to PSG was imminent.
