Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as a defensive priority for Paris Saint-Germain this mercato. There is even talk of some progress towards a transfer. Today, RMC Sport reports that the player’s willingness to sign for Paris is decisive, as PSG slowly approaches the English club’s request. Without being there yet.
“The player’s determination to join PSG this summer is a strong argument”.
“According to RMC Sport, Illia Zabarnyi’s determination to join PSG this summer is a strong argument, and even essential. Without the Ukrainian centre-half’s unwavering determination, Illia Zabarnyi would probably already have signed elsewhere.
The Ukrainian has several other suitors. Among them, Tottenham are ready to pay the €70 million demanded by Bournemouth. Illia Zabarnyi, however, only wants Paris. What’s more, the Cherries defender has already agreed a five-year contract.
“No agreement in principle has been validated by the Cherries.”
The latest verbal offer from the Parisian management, estimated at 60 million euros (plus bonuses), is already several days old. At the moment, with the bonuses offered by PSG to Bournemouth in their latest bid, there is less than 5 million euros difference between the amount demanded by the English side. However, the Cherries have not yet agreed a deal in principle.”
As always, we remain cautious as this is still just a rumour. It’s difficult to be certain without any concrete information. But all the media are in agreement about Zabarnyi’s desire, so we can hope it’s not for nothing.
Now that the clubs have reached an agreement, some are impatient. However, PSG is in no hurry. The professional squad doesn’t resume training until August 6, so having a recruit much earlier wouldn’t be very useful. It would even be negative, as the player would not be in the best conditions for his preparation.
We’re even beginning to think that PSG are deliberately taking their time, after having secured (or almost secured) the player’s willingness. For the moment, there’s nothing to worry about in the Zabarnyi dossier. An acceleration is expected soon. If the gap is just about right, things could move very quickly.
