Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s defensive priorities for the mercato. There was even talk of a breakthrough in talks between PSG and the English club. But journalist Marc Mechenoua (Le Parisien) reports today that Paris has made no particular progress on this front, and that the time has come to be patient.
“Discussions between PSG and Bournemouth have not resumed.
The English club is asking for €70m + bonuses.
Possible contacts during the 2nd window (June 27/July 3) to strengthen the squad for the 8th Club World Cup.”
We remain cautious, as this is still only a rumour. So nothing is certain. There’s no certainty until there’s confirmation. There’s nothing concrete, so it’s hard to see things clearly. It’s possible that PSG hasn’t made any particular progress, but several media outlets have reported that discussions have moved forward. Perhaps it’s not for nothing.
There’s no choice anyway, we’ll have to wait for a point from a club or the player to be sure of the outcome. Zabarnyi would be a great recruit for PSG, so we’re hoping for good news soon.
