The UEFA index is like the goose that lays the golden eggs for the various leagues. Each country has its own clubs, which have to do their best to stay in the top places. France has repeatedly struggled in Europe, finishing 6th at the start of the 2023-2024 financial year, but managed to finish 5th to qualify for 7 European leagues (4 for the Champions League, 3 of which are direct, 2 for the Europa League and 1 for the Conference League). The aim was to at least maintain this position at the end of the 2024-2025 season, and this has now been achieved.

It’s a great performance, which ensures a fine list of qualifiers in Europe. It’s all the more impressive given that PSG still has 2 clubs qualified, while its rivals have all been eliminated. This could increase the lead.
With the 2020-2021 season no longer counting next year (it’s over 5 rolling seasons), it’s to the advantage of all the surrounding competitors. So we could easily be 5th at the end of next season, and perhaps aim higher? We mustn’t get carried away, but the end of the season is important, and we’ll have to keep up the good work next year.
