Xavi Simons, the 21-year-old striker/midfielder under contract at Paris Saint-Germain until 2027, has been loaned back to RB Leipzig for the 2024-2025 season after a long wait. With no option to buy, the future remains wide open. Marc Mechenoua, from Le Parisien, assures us that Leipzig did sell last summer in order to obtain substantial funds to buy the Dutch player. Things should get moving this summer.
“Leipzig veut absolument acheter Xavi Simons, et pour cela, il a bien vendu l’été dernier.
L’été prochain sera décisive pour l’avenir du Néerlandais au PSG.
Marc Mechenoua.”
PSG and Simons are clearly coming to an end. There’s more talk of him in the Bundesliga and Premier League than at PSG. It’ll be a good sale for Paris, because you can’t hold on to a player who doesn’t want to play for the club, let alone one who’s demanding regular status.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the matter, knowing that other clubs will also be interested. Will Xavi Simons opt for a future with Leipzig, or will he grow up and try to join a very big club? To be continued.
