Kylian Mbappé, France’s 25-year-old striker, is now at Real Madrid following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain. However, not everything has yet been settled between the player and the club where he spent 7 years. The French international is in financial dispute with Paris over unpaid wages and bonuses, despite PSG’s belief that an agreement had been reached. On Tuesday evening, L’Equipe reported that the French Football Federation had not contacted UEFA as the player’s entourage had hoped.
“According to our information, the French Federation has not sent UEFA any information on the 55.4 million euros a priori owed by PSG to Kylian Mbappé. In a letter, Delphine Verheyden, the player’s lawyer, asked the FFF whether it had alerted the European body on this subject, as it is the FFF that acts as intermediary for the “UEFA club license” required to play in European Cups.
But the FFF has done nothing, as it believes that the case is not yet closed, since PSG has taken the matter to the Paris court to challenge the decisions taken by the LFP against it. Consequently, we can imagine that without an alert from the French Federation, UEFA will not be in a hurry to sanction PSG.”
It’s hard to know exactly what to take from this, except that the FFF is not rushing into anything. Quite logically, it is waiting to see exactly how the case develops, while an important procedure is underway. There’s no question of moving too quickly and then finding ourselves in difficulty.
The case therefore remains rather vague, with a sanction still seemingly a possibility, but also PSG escaping with a victory. We’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully not too long. It’s time to turn the page and get out of this penny-pinching battle.
