Le Mans FC hosted Paris Saint-Germain this Tuesday evening in the 8th round of the Coupe de France. The Parisians were able to manage the game, rotating the squad and resting the players who were most in demand. Despite this, the Rouge et Bleu came away with a comfortable 0-2 victory (video highlights Le Mans/PSG). The other event of the evening was Presnel Kimpembe’s return to competitive action, after an injury that kept him off the pitch for over a year. He spoke to beIN SPORTS after the match:
It’s been a long tunnel, but you’ve seen the exit today, almost 2 years later, and you’re back.
It’s a pleasure, it’s been a long time since I’ve felt sensations like this. Tonight was special, with the whole stadium and even the Le Mans fans cheering me on. They cheered me, it was really warm and I’m really happy to have made my comeback to help the team win tonight.
Kimpembe: “I’m a warrior, I’m a soldier”.
How are you feeling today?
Very good, it was very very long as you said. I’m trying to prepare myself as well as possible so I can make my comeback as soon as possible. I’m a warrior, I’m a soldier, and frankly I’ve got a lot of emotions tonight. I’m delighted to be able to get back to doing what I love most after a 2-year break.
Hakimi gave you the armband when you came on.
The group has always supported me, they’re like brothers and pals. We’re really a family, we’re united, and especially me, with the period I’ve been through, I’ve been lucky to have teammates who have always pushed me and been behind me when I needed them.
