On Tuesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Le Mans 0-2 (video highlights Le Mans/PSG) in the last eight of the Coupe de France 2024-2025 at the Stade Marie-Marvingt. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights and lowlights of the match.
Tops –
Paris in the quarters!
It was no surprise to see PSG through to the quarter-finals. But that’s easier said than done – PSG are incredibly consistent in France, and that commands respect. Le Mans didn’t lose out, but even against a “small” PSG it wasn’t enough to stop the machine.
Presko – The comeback
Kimpembe’s comeback is inevitably an event. He hadn’t played since February 23, 2023. An eternity for a top-level sportsman. We won’t say anything about his entrance, just the pleasure of seeing a player emerge from his dark tunnel. All the best to him, and let’s hope he can play at his best again one day.
Barcola decisive
He was criticized, but now he’s woken up. His entrance hit the nail on the head. He’s quick and we need Barcola at this level for the end of the season. He’s scoring again, and in the end, he’s only had a short spell on the sidelines. He was able to bounce back and his entrance was noticed.
Flops –
Hernandez injured?
Out with an injury, it may not be much, but he’s clearly had something. Hopefully, PSG can keep their squad fresh for the end of the season and play their hearts out in all competitions.
Ramos – Best in supersub
Ramos is best when he comes on. As a starter, he is often disappointing, which can be a problem. We expect much more from him, as we do from Kvraratskhelia, who has struggled since his arrival. We can forgive them for playing on a very complicated pitch, but Paris didn’t have the same heart on Tuesday night. That’s enough for the rest of the competition, but Ramos, Kvara and others will have to wake up a lot for the rest of the game.
