On Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain took on Le Mans at the Stade Marie-Marvingt in the last eight of the Coupe de France 2024-2025. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu clearly didn’t play well, they came away with a hard-fought 0-2 victory (video highlights Le Mans/PSG). Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (6) – Not very reassuring, especially his missed clearance which could have led to a goal. He didn’t have much work to do either. He had more work to do in the second half and was pretty good.
Defenders –
Yoram Zague (4) – A complicated first half for the young titi. Never found the right rhythm. Replaced at half-time by Achraf Hakimi (6) A decent start for the player who made a few inroads.
Lucas Beraldo (4) – Struggling, lacking aggression in general. Didn’t shine in the restart either.
Willian Pacho (6) – Solid, as usual. Showed he’s got what it takes to go from strength to strength. Replaced in the 82nd minute by Presnel Kimpembe.
Lucas Hernandez (5) – An average first half, he was beaten in duels and didn’t perform as expected. He suffered a worrying injury at the end of the first half. Replaced at half-time by Nuno Mendes (6).
Midfielders –
Lee Kang-in (4) – We found Lee rather “bland” again, hooking and playing towards the back. He repeats this formula too often. We get it, he’s got it, but it’s time for something different.
Fabian Ruiz (5) – The custodian of the game, he was fairly neutral. We expect more from the captain of the evening. He often plays too slowly.
Senny Mayulu (4) – Not a great performance from him on Tuesday evening. He failed to set the pace he usually does. He needs to work on his consistency. Replaced in the 68th minute by Vitinha.
Forwards –
Désiré Doué (5) – Scored without putting in a great performance. Played too “easy” and that’s not what’s asked of him. Replaced in the 68th minute by Bradley Barcola.
Gonçalo Ramos (3) – Quite invisible. Hasn’t made the most of his starting berth yet. Disappointing.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (4) – An average performance. Doesn’t have the team’s rhythm yet, and physically he’s not yet fully ready.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (6) – Another win in France, away from home, a perfect record for him. He rotated his players, but his team wasn’t incredible on Tuesday. The pitch didn’t help, but it was clear that the team wasn’t at the same level of concentration as in other games.
