Vitinha arrived in the summer mercato in July 2022 from FC Porto with a contract running until 2027, and has gone from strength to strength at Paris Saint-Germain. The 24-year-old midfielder’s rise to prominence with the arrival of coach Luis Enrique in 2023 is notable. This has been confirmed by a contract extension until 2029, made official today.
Vitinha had got off to a good start, before enduring a complicated 2022-2023 season overall. Stymied in his game by a lack of collective spirit and the “need” to always serve the stars, the Portuguese was unable to express himself. The change of direction the project took in 2023, as well as the arrival of Luis Enrique, helped him a great deal.
The Portuguese international, who has also been promoted by his coach, has turned a corner. Even if he has yet to make an even greater impact on big Champions League nights. But he’s growing up, and we’ve seen him speak up in difficult moments, so we’re not worried about him.
Now a key member of the team, Vitinha has everything it takes to write great things for PSG. He is determined to do so, and the club believes in him, hence this extension. Let’s hope that what’s next will indeed be beautiful, with great matches and titles.
