On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain hosted their rivals Olympique de Marseille to close out the 26th day of Ligue 1. After the victory 3-1, 19-year-old Parisian midfielder Désiré Doué spoke to PSG TV about the win.
Doué “We’re back with 3 points and that’s the most important thing.”
“It was my first Classic at the Parc des Princes, so I’m very, very happy. I’m also happy for the team because we played a very good game tonight. We were serious from start to finish, we showed good stuff and were effective when we needed to be.
We’ve got 3 points and that’s the most important thing. We know it’s a game with a lot at stake. There’s a lot of hype but we’re very happy, we were able to stay serious and that’s the most important thing. It’s been a great week, and we need to keep it up!”
It was a perfect week for PSG, who qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a thrilling match, and virtually confirmed their new title with victory over OM. Contrary to predictions, it was not an easy match for the Parisians. The OM players were obviously playing the match of their season, while Luis Enrique’s men were more on the back foot.
The victory was good news, but what will make it even better is the ten-day international break. Since January, PSG have been going from strength to strength, and this break will give the players a chance to catch their breath. The return leg will be just as busy, with Champions League, league and French Cup fixtures. But it’s all down to the home stretch, and the chance to make history.
