The 2025 summer mercato isn’t open yet, of course, but it’s already gearing up, so rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain still arrive from time to time. This time, it’s Anfield Watch that assures PSG have launched a huge bid for Virgil Van Dijk, the 33-year-old central defender from the Netherlands who is at the end of his contract at Liverpool (whom he joined in 2017).
“Van Dijk’s initial offer was 100 million euros.
“Van Dijk is a prime target for the French club. If the video that circulated on social networks last week showing the Liverpool captain with PSG sporting director Luis Campos was purely coincidental, Anfield Watch understands that the Ligue 1 leaders are in talks with the Dutchman’s agent.
An offer of 80 million euros (excluding tax) over two years, with a possible third season in the French capital, is on the table, along with a hefty signing bonus that would take the initial proposal to 100 million euros.
Anfield Watch understands that money is not a motivating factor for the 33-year-old. He could stay at the club, but PSG sense that there is an opportunity to bring the world’s best central defender to their club and are rolling out the red carpet to try and entice him.”
Let’s remain cautious, there’s nothing concrete here, and we’re well used to rumours that involve PSG in numerous dossiers without any confirmation behind them. There’s also the classic case of a huge Parisian offer leading to the player’s extension or another transfer, without the Parisian interest being confirmed. In the “game” played by clubs, media and agents, it’s hard to see things clearly.
Of course, Van Dijk is an excellent defender and a Parisian interest would not be insane. But we’d be wary, as he doesn’t fit in with the recent trend of recruiting youngsters and great talents who still have everything to gain. Even so, the opportunity to end a contract may be worth considering. However, we would be very surprised if the figures put forward were correct.
