Monday saw the start of another international break, that of June. So Georgia coach Willy Sagnol announced his list of players called up to face Armenia twice in friendlies against the Faroe Islands and Cape Verde. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, PSG’s 24-year-old striker and the only Georgian in the Paris squad, was not called up in the end.
“International break: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is finally rested. Not called up by his coach, the Georgian will be able to rest before the Club World Cup.”
Kvaratskhelia is therefore rested, which is a surprise given his importance in the squad. But as these are friendlies, the coach has given priority to rest. This can only be appreciated, as the Parisians rarely get a chance to take a breather. For Sagnol, it’s also a way of giving other players time to play and work. In any case, the PSG striker can’t always be on the pitch.
