Mario Gila, Lazio Rome’s 24-year-old central defender (contract until 2027), has been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s mercato targets. La Gazzetta dello Sport claims on Thursday that PSG have made a €35 million offer.
“Gazzetta: Le #PSG insiste pour Gila et offre 35M à la Lazio. President Lotito (who will have to pay 50% to Real Madrid) is demanding more.”
Nothing is impossible, and PSG may well have taken the plunge, as they have until June 10 (inclusive) to add players to their squad for the Club World Cup. But that’s no reason to rush into anything. Especially as Paris has already shown, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in particular, that it knows how to be patient.
But we’ll have to wait and see if the Parisian club has made a move for Gila. A very interesting defender. Except that he’s not the only one being talked about, and a name that hasn’t yet appeared in the rumours could well end up being the recruit.
Not to mention the fact that other clubs are also interested in the Spaniard, with Chelsea rumoured to be offering the same amount. Let’s remain cautious until we have something concrete.
